PAVING THE WAY FOR FOR TODAY AND TOMORROW'S RESERVE COMPONENT

Since 1922, ROA has been at the forefront of policy, delivering landmark victories that protect our service members and their families, And today, ROA is leading the way and paving the path forward on the big issues on Capitol Hill that matter most to our Reserve Component forces and their families.

DUTY STATUS REFORM

Move the Bill. Modernize the Force.

For a Reserve Component service member, the difference between two days on orders can mean the difference between full healthcare, a paycheck, retirement credit, and survivor benefits — or none at all. Duty Status Reform consolidates a system built piece by piece over seventy years into a simple, easy-to-understand framework that supports and benefits our Reserve members. ROA supports the Duty Status Reform Act and is actively engaged with the committees of jurisdiction to advance the bill. Members of Congress, professional staff, advocates, and reserve component service members: the resources below are open for use.

RC EQUIPMENT MODERNIZATION

Equip the Force You've Already Deployed. Fund What Works.

The Reserve Components provide nearly half of total military end strength yet receive less than 10 percent of defense procurement funding. Operation Epic Fury has made clear the operational case for closing that gap: Reserve Component forces are already mobilized, already integrated, and already absorbing casualties. The annual defense appropriations bill is our opportunity to align investment with that reality — beginning with the platforms the RC and Total Force depend on most and robust NGREA funding across the reserve force.

RC PAY EQUITY

Three Bills. One Paycheck.

The average drilling reservist works more than a hundred hours a year that they aren’t getting paid for. ROA is supporting three bills in Congress that would help address this pay disparity.

Each of these actions stands on its own. Together, they close the cost-of-service gap that has been quietly subsidized by Reserve Component members for years. ROA is engaged with the committees of jurisdiction in both chambers.
